I just had to let you know that I have signed up, and I am finding your methods EXTREMELY HELPFUL, and more importantly, simple and easy to follow....even for me. I have to confess I was rather sceptical when I subscribed to your site, I've seen all manner of fabulous systems to achieve fast results in this or that, all of which seemed to go to be true and indeed were. However, you system of guitar tuition really seems to work and I've made more progress in the last couple of weeks than I made in the last five months.

Thanks for all of the e-mails with the learner tips. They are great.You are making guitar learning simple. My confidence is steadily improving as my skills get honed more and more.

Me with guitar skills was not a phrase on my radar until I discovered your site. You make it seem so easy. When I pick up the guitar at first, I go through all of the progressions that were involved with the 4 beginner lessons. My fingers are actually starting to find the proper strings that make a chord faster and faster. Sometimes without looking.

My biggest problem that I have encountered so far though is stretching my finger to the center-front of strings. Ex:"C" chord. But it is getting better. My fingertips are getting hard as well. When I make a chord, at times I strum the individual strings to see if I am muting another string.

Practice! Practice! Practice!

I want to take my time and learn the right way---your way. Thanks for the great lessons, and keep sending the learner tips via e-mail.

My wife bought an Esteban guitar and instruction DVD set for my 10 y/o daughter. The first DVD was ok then BAM it went into playing what I thought were songs that were way too hard for a beginner. It seems like the entire beginner lessons were skipped!! Thats when I starting looking on the internet for some instructions and found your site. It has been a tremendous resourse!!!! I decided to use your program to start my son learning the guitar after viewing a larger number of other sites which provide on-line lessons (many sacrificed substance for style or in some cases had neither). This is going to sound crazy, but in the last twenty minutes I¹ve learned more about playing this guitar of mine than the last year of trying to figure it out on my own. I¹ve got that Strumming pattern #1 down solid, played Em and easy A patterns, and can even do that all-downstroke strum for Coldplay¹s Clocks. (And I love that you use cool music like Coldplay; keep up the good work in that department!)

Incredible. I feel as though there¹s actually hope for me. This is not a phony email. I¹m a 52-year-old woman from Vancouver, B.C. I¹ve always loved the idea of being able to play simple songs and sound okay, and the gap between me and that goal seemed impossible to bridge. I looked at some other how-to clips on YouTube and they just confused me; it¹s amazing how almost everyone leaves out the darn strum, leaving us newbies hopelessly lost and sounding so pathetic and feeling so talentless.

The ³even learning curve² you mention is such an intelligent approach. Just adding that drum beat to the strumming pattern helped me hear how it worked much better than just the guitar alone, which some other clips had. I¹m no expert on comparisons, just having decided to go to YouTube for the very first time this evening for this, but everything about your lessons, including the nice, calm, reassuring guy (you?) showing us how to do it, seems to be very well done.

I was afraid to take lessons since I figured they would cost more than I could afford, but I¹m seriously tempted to sign up with you. Just wondering, if we join, can we ever contact you with a question every now and then??

Paul: I wanted to let you know that I have worked very hard on your lessons and it really has made a big difference in my playing. Your instruction on right hand technique has been a big help. Most other online instructors leave the right hand out entirely. I do hope you expand your hybrid playing series. I really appreciate your going to the trouble to explain music theory. (And, by the way, you do that VERY well.) I have been involved in singing and playing music as long as I can remember, but I never knew the structure behind it. The more I have learned from your acoustic guitar lessons, the more I have longed to know the structure. The notations for chords were understandable to me only so far as seeing the notation and seeing a chord chart matching up. But knowing WHY those chords are formed and what keys are about, etc. --- that has opened up to a whole new, as you have said, "universe of music." Thanks so much! I can't wait to watch Lesson #6.

I would just like to say how much I have progresed since I signed up to Guitar in a nutshell. I have been playing for about 2 years and used several sites in oder to get the level I was at. During the last two weeks I have managed to learn Fast Car, wonderwall, the intro to more than words and sweet home Alabama, wow!! in the 2 years of playing. I couldnt even manage to put one whole track together, and the strum paterns!! its made my playing and understanding of the guitar so much better.Whilst playing I find my self smiling, due to the fact I am learning a song that I have heard so many times!! Apart from Pxxsing my Flat mate off and probably my neighbours I would like to thank you for putting this all together in the way you have and look forward to any new tracks you may put online.

Just loving the course - pitched at exactly the right level for me. I'm 58 and been playing about 18 months - half of that with a tutor every fortnight. I can honestly say that I have learned more in using guitar-in-a-nutshell for two weeks than I ever did with my teacher. I have corrected many things I was doing wrong and already I have noticed a big improvement in my playing. My only problem is that I still have to go to work - I am so enthusiastic I could practice all day, given the time - fingers permitting of course!.
