guitar strumming lessons

I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that you’ve been frustrated by the apparent lack of guitar strumming lessons available for beginners on the web.

Why is it that guitar websites concentrate so much on chords and leave the actually strumming as an afterthought or worse not cover it at all? After all, chords are only one side of the equation. A vital part to playing any song is going to be the strumming pattern.

Well thankfully there are a few excellent sites which understand this important point for beginners and are now providing some quality guitar lessons on the subject.

A search on YouTube can also be very helpful but the quality of the lessons can often be badly taught, inaccurate and unprofessional.

So how do we find where these quality guitar strumming lessons actually are? The only way is to investigate the websites you visit closely enough to see what’s covered before taking membership, even send them an email to ask specifically.

Interestingly, strumming patterns on guitar can be the most difficult part to learn for some guitar beginners. It’s especially hard if you have an underdeveloped sense of rhythm or worse, no sense of rhythm of all.

In my teaching practice I’ve seen some students who genuinely had no sense of rhythm and come to me specifically for lessons on how to strum guitar. It’s bad news since actually it’s one of the hardest things to teach, they know all their chords but can’t hear or feel if they are in or out of time!

Guitar Strumming Lessons: The good news

Assuming however that you do possess and average ability for rhythm, with quality lessons clearly explained you should find it easy to pick up these patterns.

I’ve saved the best news for last. You don’t need to know lots of strums. Just 4 or 5 patterns will allow you to play literally 100’s of songs. Find some good quality guitar strumming lessons and I’ve a feeling your frustrating days of not being able to play songs will be over!
