One of the common problems a lot of people just learning guitar encounter is trying to find easy guitar songs for beginners.
The learning process is all about maintaining an even learning curve and for this reason it’s important to make a smooth transition out of chords and into suitable easy guitar songs.
Examples of easy beginner songs would include Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton and Please Mr. Postman by the Beatles. What both these beginner songs and others have in common is a small number of chords, 3 or 4, and a simple strumming pattern.
A lot of beginner type songs have just one or two progressions which simply repeat throughout the entire duration of the song; this means you can add your first songs with little effort and gain some confidence. You teacher should give you a break down of each song as you guitar lessons progress.
It’s very important to play along to the original recordings, staying in time and strumming evenly. In fact all the different elements should be practiced individually.
First play the chords doing just one single strum on each new chord. Then mute your strings and practice the strum on its own in time with the recording.
Next do just half the strum on each chord before finally trying to put the full strum into motion. You can see how rather than trying to play the easy guitar song immediately, we instead build up each individual element.
This process gives you the best possible chance of mastering your first songs on guitar.
Beginner Guitar Songs
Online you can find many resources for locating beginner guitar songs; often you will get the lyrics and chords but no help at all with the strumming. For this reason it’s important to have a set system of strums in place and often just 4 or 5 strums are enough to cover you for thousands of songs!
Of course it’s worth noting that it’s a mistake to attempt any kind of song, even a beginner song, too soon and before you have correctly learned your chords and strums.
The better you learn your basic chords and strumming patterns the easy it’s going to be to play lots of guitar songs in the long run.
