easy guitar songs to learn
Quite often when looking for easy guitar songs to learn you’ll find these chord books which promise that you can play every song in the book with just 4 chords or 6 chords ECT. They aren’t really the best books to go for however as they come with 2 major problems.
Firstly they don’t give you any indication of the strumming pattern you should use. As we all know, having the chords represents only half of what’s required to play a song - you also need the strum pattern. You could find yourself having bought one of these easy song books and having learnt the chords, still unable to play any songs because you don’t know what strum to use.
Secondly, in order to make them easy guitar songs to learn, sometimes the books will transpose the key of the song so that the chords are now in open position. This means that the key of the song in the book no longer matches the key of the original song recording, if you try to play along it’s going to sound completely wrong. Since being able to play along with the original song is important as part of your practice, learning the versions from easy guitar song books can be a little pointless.
Generally I would advise you to stay away from guitar books when looking for easy guitar songs to learn or how to play guitar songs. You need to be of a certain level in guitar before you’ll be able to regulate the errors in these books and teach yourself effectively. Until that time, continue going to guitar lessons or learning from videos online.
